DOWNLOAD THE PDF TO THIS TUTORIAL BY CLICKING DOWNLOADS AND THEN "DOWNGRADE GUIDE"

Now, many people have been asking "how do you downgrade an iPhone 3gs or 3g from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2?" Well i have the answer for you. Just follow my simple instructions and you will downgraded and jailbroken in under 30 minutes. (not including file downloads).

Here is what you will need:

The newest Quickpwn download
(if 3gs) iPhone 3gs 3.1.2 official firmware
(If 3g) iPhone 3g 3.1.2 official firmware
iTunes 9
blackra1n for jailbreak or what ever it is you use to jailbreak your apple device

I will include links to these downloads at the end.

First before you start the downgrade you will need to to redirect iTunes via the host file to trick iTunes into thinking that Apple has verified the restore.

To do so add this: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to your host file.

C: /windows/system32/drivers/etc/host (location for windows computers)

for mac: http://decoding.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/how-to-edit-the-hosts-file-in-mac-os-x-leopard/

Make sure you click SAVE not SAVE AS (for windows)

Step 1:

Plug your iPhone into the computer and wait for iTunes to detect your iPhone.

Step 2:

HOLD SHIFT and press the restore button. This will allow you to search for your own firmware to restore your iPhone to.

Step 3:

Browse to where you downloaded the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware to and select it to restore your iPhone. iTunes will show that your iPhone is being restored and go through that whole process.

Your restoration will stop at a point and say that your iPhone can't be restored. Just ignore this and close iTunes

Step 4:

Your iPhone will now be in recovery mode showing the iTunes symbol and the plug. Open up QuickPwn and a message will show up saying to hold the power button and home button for 15 seconds then the power button for 2 seconds. Perform this and reset your iPhone.

Step 5:

After your iPhone resets, it will look like it is not activated. Don't panic just open up iTunes and let iTunes recognize your iPhone. It should restore your iPhone and set all the carrier settings. Now click on your iPhone on the left hand side and it will say software or firmware 3.1.2.

Congratulations you have successfully downgraded your iPhone!

Step 6:

Jailbreak as would normally, blackra1n works best for me.
